Owner + Lead Designer

A self-taught designer and stager, she’s always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a unique sense of style. At 24, she bought and remodeled her first home with her dad, selling it for a profit and igniting her passion for design and real estate. Ashley has a business degree from Clemson University and experience in both the real estate and new construction industries. Her passion for homes runs deep, she could tour them all day! When she's not working, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family, perusing HomeGoods, playing golf with her husband and relaxing at an aesthetically pleasing bar. Her personal style is California Organic Modern and her design/business role model is Joanna Gaines.

Katlyn Ernst

Designer

Kat is an Iowa native and Iowa State grad with a degree in Textile Science and Apparel Merchandising. Before joining Ashley + Louis Design in 2023, she worked as a handbag designer and accessories buyer for a major retail corporation. Katlyn’s personal style is rooted in transitional design with a vintage flair and she loves creating spaces that feel curated and collected. Inspired by designers like Jake Arnold, she brings a refined touch to every project. Katlyn’s favorite part of her job is curating beautiful spaces through A+L’s interior design services. When she’s not working, she’s exploring the Twin Cities’ culinary scene or whipping up meals at home. Katlyn is also engaged to her MN-born fiancé and looks forward to their wedding in 2026.

Ryan Hohenstein

Owner + Lead Painter of RKH Painting

Ryan is the owner and lead painter of RKH Painting, the exclusive painting partner of Ashley + Louis. With 20 years of professional painting experience, Ryan specializes in residential interior painting but also offers exterior work, commercial projects, woodwork, cabinetry, ceilings and more. He enjoys working alongside his wife Ashley on various projects and together they offer their clients a seamless “one-stop-shop” experience. Ryan’s passion for his craft and dedication to quality translate directly into the final results. Outside of work, Ryan is a big Vikings fan, loves playing golf and is a proud family man. His personal style? “Anything Ashley picks!”

Louis

   The Inspiration   

 Louis, Ashley’s beloved French Bulldog, has been with her through thick and thin since 2014. A puppy who came into Ashley's life after a difficult breakup, Louis became her best friend and constant companion. From eight moves to the founding of Ashley + Louis, a marriage and the arrival of a baby, Louis was there every step of the way. When it came time to name the business, Louis felt like the perfect fit—a tribute to the pup who’d always been by her side. Though Louis passed away, his memory lives on in the name and spirit of A+L. Louis loved cozying up on the sofa with a throw blanket, living the life of a true homebody. His personal style? French, cozy chic, of course!
